Das Team kehrt nach Hause zurück

 

Heute Abend werden die letzten freiwilligen Helfer an die Südküste zurückkehren. Alle, bis auf einen.

 

Jackim liegt voraussichtlich noch bis Donnerstag im Hospital in Eldoret. Seine Frau Rachel wird ihn dann am Freitag nach Hause begleiten.

 

Jackims OP - sein Halswirbel wurde mit einer Titanplatte und vier Schrauben fixiert - verlief nach Auskunft der Ärzte ohne Komplikationen. Ob der Eingriff Jackims Beine wieder herstellen wird, können wir erst in einigen Tagen sagen. Im Moment macht er nur kleine Fortschritte, aber mehr kann man bei so einer Verletzung wohl auch nicht erwarten.

 

Bis auf Jackims Unfall war die Mission ein voller Erfolg. Mindestens zwei weitere Konvois werden wir in den nächsten Wochen noch auf den Weg bringen können, denn einige Hotels in Diani Beach und die HelpAlliance von Lufthansa und Condor haben sich unserem Projekt angeschlossen.

 

Es ist unglaublich, welche Dimensionen dieses Projekt Dank Ihrer/Eurer Hilfe in der kurzen Zeit erhalten hat.

The Team Returns Home

 

Tonight, the last remaining volunteers will return to their home in Diani Beach and Ukunda. All, but one. 

 

Jackim will probably have to remain in Eldoret Hospital until Thursday. On Friday, his wife Rachel will take him back home.

 

Jackim's operation - his cervical was fixed with a titanium plate and four screws - went without complications according to his doctors. We will not know before a couple of days if Jackim will be able to use his legs again, and to what extent. Currently he is making very slow progress, but we couldn't have hoped for more after such a massive injury. 

 

Apart from Jackim's accident our mission was a complete success. We should be able to send at least two more convoys in the next few weeks, because several hotels from Diani Beach as well as HelpAlliance from Lufthansa and Condor have joined our project.

 

It is amazing which dimensions this project has reached with your help in such a short time.
