Accident Near Nakuru

On 10th of August one of our school busses  with our volunteers took of from Ukunda to Lodwar. When the driver had to do an emergency breaking our chief technician Jackim was badly injured. He can not move or feel his legs any more, so it is suspected that a cervical was fractured.

Jackim was brought to Moi Hospital in Eldoret. Die doctors will have to conduct further x-rays and MRT before they may attempt to operate. Jackim's wife Rachel is already on the way to Eldoret.

Simon Mwachia and Florence Munke have stayed behind with Jackim. For one, they will sort out financial matters. In Kenya, operations of such kind and quality can only be obtained against cash, and the teachers' travel kitty is hardly sufficient for such expenses. We are also sending money to Simon through Mpesa so the hospital bills may be paid.

Thus, our team had continued its journey to Kitale in reduced numbers. All team members are deeply depressed and very frustrated. They had left Ukunda in such high spirits, but now their enthusiasm about helping the suffering people has waned in the face of a possible paralysis of Jackim. On Friday, the food supplies shall be distributed to the needy, than the team will return to Jackim in Eldoret.

It is so sad.
